Customers can plug the RAI Robot Intelligence Kit into their robot, enabling it to understand plain-language instructions, perceive its environment, recognize objects, plan actions, and execute tasks autonomously, end to end.

How we do it

The RAI Agentic Robotic System

We are developing the RAI Agentic Robotic System, a layer of intelligence that connects today’s AI models with robotic hardware and an agentic training framework. The system integrates hardware control; 2D and 3D environment mapping; semantic mapping and calibration; and model orchestration and simulation for a variety of robots, such as collaborative robots or mobile manipulators. The same system equips a robot with the ability to understand human instruction, perceive its surroundings, recognize objects in it, navigate, and carry out tasks autonomously from beginning to end.

The RAI intelligence layer is hardware-agnostic by design and utilizes standard interfaces that robot manufacturers already provide to their customers. This allows our system to run on a multitude of different robots, including the hardware that a company already owns.

We assembled this mobile manipulator (a mobile base with an arm) in our own lab, from off-the-shelf components and an edge brain equipped with our RAI Agentic Robotic System, to demonstrate that the layer is hardware-agnostic. In the video it is given the instruction “go to the white desk and pick up coke”. It is not told where the can is, so it has to find it: it navigates to the desk, locates the can, repositions itself, and picks it up. Fully autonomous, no teleoperation. Parts of this video are played at 5x speed; the rest is at normal speed.

Our sights are initially set on laboratories in the life sciences and healthcare. RAI-enabled robots will make a real impact in the repetitive, high-volume work where precision matters and skilled people are scarce.

The experts behind Robotic Assistant Inc. bring together more than a hundred fifty years of combined experience across AI, robotics, software, laboratory operations, commercialization and public policy.

Our engineers hold master’s and PhD degrees, and are well-versed in robot perception, navigation, control, multi-robot coordination, machine learning, mechanical engineering, and software. Our team also includes experts in clinical laboratory operations and informatics who are at the vanguard of our plan to bring smart robots to the laboratory. Our advisors lead university research groups in AI and robotics and ensure we remain at the forefront of what is possible.
